Alphonse Bi Zah Blaiore, PhD candidate at the University Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan visited the Ape Social Mind Lab at the Institut des Sciences Cognitives (UMR 5229) on a research exchange with the IRL 2041 Chimpanzee and Monkey Protection for Intact Cultures. Alphonse was the first to scholar who was send by the IRL ChiMP4IC to France to present his research at the Conference of the European Federation of Primatology in Montpellier (the beginning of July 2026) and to exchange with his primatology colleagues afterwards in Lyon. He used the time to write a first draft of his paper on "Similar use of medical plants in chimpanzees and local population at Tai National Park" with the help of co-supervisors Zoro Bertain Gone Bi, Roman Wittig and Catherine Crockford. We gave him a farewell celebrating his achievements and his time in Lyon, while watching the solar eclipse on August 12, 2026.
